Now in its second year, the British Firefighter Challenge is a firefighter-specific fitness competition open to operational firefighters from around the World.
Endorsed by the Chief Fire Officers Association, this year’s competition features 130 competitors from the USA, Canada, Australia, Germany, Austria, Croatia and 24 different UK Fire and Rescue Services.
Competitors will undergo a range of activities including climbing six flights of stairs, hauling equipment aloft, using forcible entry techniques, completing a 60m hose drag, 25m hose makeup, 40kg equipment carry and performing a 70kg casualty rescue!
In addition to promoting health and fitness, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service will be delivering Fire Safety education to the local community offering advice and information for all ages on Fire Safety, Road Safety and Celebrating Safely campaigns.
All funds raised from the British Firefighters Challenge go to The Fire Fighters Charity.
