Skills for Justice have been working with HM Prison Service, G4S, Sodexo and Serco to develop the Apprenticeship Standard and End-Point Assessment Plan (EPA) for Custody and Detention Officers (C&D Officer)
Our role has been to provide advice to the Chair and Group on the requirements of the Institute of Apprentices (IfA), liaising with Relationship Managers and others in the IfA and to prepare and quality assure documents needed for submission to IfA.
The standard has been developed to ensure that Officers not only have the necessary knowledge and skills to work as part of a team ensuring individuals are held in a secure, safe, decent and fair environment but also to recognise the increasingly key role that Officers play in the rehabilitation of those in their care, seeking solutions to positively influence their re-integration into society.
Currently the Standard and EPA have both been approved by the Institute for Apprentices and will be available for delivery once the allocation of the funding band has been finalised. Find the link to the standard and EPA here
