Pete Ley

MA, MSc, MA

Associate Consultant

Pete has been working to deliver mental health care since 1992 and as well as being qualified as a social worker since 1998. In his 28 year career, he has worked across a variety of settings including the Voluntary Sector, Local Authority, NHS and Social Enterprises both as a frontline social worker and subsequently as a manager and leader both within operational and strategic roles.

Pete has always sought to underpin his experience with an understanding of the theory and evidence base and this has resulted in his Master's Degrees in Social Work and in Healthcare Leadership. More recently he has developed an interest in Organisational Development work and Quality Improvement Methodologies via a further MA studying Systems Psychodynamics and its application to Leadership at the Tavistock and Portman Institute.

During his time as a manager and leader, he has delivered change at a team and system-wide level and is very passionate that the groups and individuals who are involved or affected are included in the process at every level. He believes that it is only through a high degree of genuine engagement that sustainable change can be achieved. Pete has been involved in numerous complex developmental and change projects working in partnership across a number of organisations. He brings deep sector specific knowledge and rigorous academic practice to his work supporting people and organisations.

During the three sessions of coaching with Toby Lindsay, I was able to better identify personal and professional goals and priorities. As a result of the coaching with Toby, I have improved my performance and realise more of my potential. It has been a pleasure to be coached by Toby and I can recommend him to anyone who is looking for professional coaching.

Toby is an expert facilitator and coach. He worked with the Trust's "Leading the Way" programme and facilitated Action Learning Sets for several small groups of senior managers and clinicians between February 2015 and June 2016. I have participated in Action Learning Sets previously (on other programmes) but I found Toby's approach and facilitation to be of greater value in securing a deeper level of self-awareness and also in securing honest and open dialogues between all present in the set. I would heartily recommend Toby to anyone.
