Alastair Wyllie

BA (Hons), PG Dip, MBA, DProf

Based in Fife, Alastair has over 25 years of international experience of facilitating leadership and organisation development through action research, executive and team coaching, and whole-system collaborative learning. He also has a growing practice in coaching and OD supervision with a particular interest in working with internal coaches, business partners, organisation developers, change agents and consultants. Much of his work is within international and multicultural contexts.

He has an eclectic background as a professional actor, a corporate communications advisor, a European network and project manager, and a trainee psychotherapist. Throughout, his evolving career has been sustained by a passionate curiosity and interest in the dynamics of human communications, interactions and relationships, and how people make sense of their experience of forming and being formed by the families, cities, organisations and cultures of which they are a part.

Alastair’s public-sector experience includes coaching, supervision and facilitation of leadership, capacity building and change in the UK, Scottish and Irish Government Departments and NDPBs in government and parliamentary administration, foreign affairs, economic development, employment and welfare, pensions, health and social care, higher education, heritage, policing, criminal justice, prisons and probation sectors. Additionally, for twelve years Alastair was Head of Secretariat for METREX, Europe’s network of metropolitan city planners.

His private-sector experience has been in cultural and behavioural change projects in oil and gas, fast-moving consumer goods and finance sectors. And his international experience includes working in Russia and the Caspian, the Middle East, China, Australia, Africa, Latin America, North America, and extensively throughout Europe.

Alastair has an action research Professional Doctorate in Organisational Change (Middlesex), a public-sector MBA (Strathclyde), a Pg Dip in Organisational Supervision (Ashridge), a Level 7 Dip in Executive Coaching & Leadership Mentoring (ILM), and a BA Hons in Drama (Bristol). He is an Ashridge-accredited coach and supervisor and is certified to administer and feedback a variety of behavioural and cultural psychometric assessments and diagnostics.

During the three sessions of coaching with Toby Lindsay, I was able to better identify personal and professional goals and priorities. As a result of the coaching with Toby, I have improved my performance and realise more of my potential. It has been a pleasure to be coached by Toby and I can recommend him to anyone who is looking for professional coaching.

Human Resources and Organisation Development Products Manager
NHS England

Toby is an expert facilitator and coach. He worked with the Trust's "Leading the Way" programme and facilitated Action Learning Sets for several small groups of senior managers and clinicians between February 2015 and June 2016. I have participated in Action Learning Sets previously (on other programmes) but I found Toby's approach and facilitation to be of greater value in securing a deeper level of self-awareness and also in securing honest and open dialogues between all present in the set. I would heartily recommend Toby to anyone.

Duane Passman
Acute Redevelopment Programme Director
West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust

I had three very insightful and productive coaching sessions with Toby. I was able to speak openly about current working issues at ease and felt at the end of the coaching session I had developed a plan to take forward. From the coaching experience, it has enabled me subconsciously to use similar coaching methods when speaking to others about their issues.
